Job Opening: Matchmove Artist
Location: Chennai, India
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- The MatchMove artist is responsible for reproducing the geometry, camera movement, and object movement of a live-action shot in a 3D environment.
- Responsible for 3D rotoscoping, for transformation of characters, face, then, and leg replacement, textures, and 3d objects for interactions and shadow.
- A Matchmove Artist must have experience on a range of large-scale film projects encompassing a wide range of camera moves/object tracks and 3d rotoscoping.
- Primary responsibilities should be able to do all of it, including camera, object tracking, and 3d rotoscoping to match live-action footage in a 3D environment, and to maintain consistent shot quality, participate in Matchmove dailies and desk rounds.
- Receiving feedback on your work and following direction from leads helps with conforming any Lidar scans.
- Ensure it’s being followed up regularly during show leads desk rounds. Support your lead / senior in making sure target deliveries are met, make your show lead / senior aware of any technical issues, and make your show co-ordinator & lead aware of any production issues.
- Make your show lead / HOD aware of any R&D requests that you think may benefit the team.
- Must be proficient in 3D Equalizer, Maya, and Boujo.You must have a basic knowledge of Film/Digital SLR cameras.
- Basic understanding of camera and filming techniques, and other VFX departments.
- Good understanding of 3D camera principles like lenses, distortion, lens grids, parallax types of the camera move, and overscan.
- Ability to understand camera data sheets and turnover sheets. Should be able to assist with any image-based modelling for building Matchmove models.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience preferably in Hollywood VFX.
- Must have a willingness to learn new tools, a proven ability to be detail-oriented, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and to work efficiently within a production environment.
- Completes the allotted project within the given man-days as per client requirements, and maintains quality standards set by the company
- Good team player and helps team members to learn and grow.
- Self-motivated, an initiator, and results-oriented
- Should be able to take ownership of the project and complete the same before the deadline
- Able to understand the clear instructions from the client and provide the desired output
- Does Self-review/quality checks for accuracy
- Strong communication and time management skills
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other artists
- Accurately assess the length of time necessary to generate high-quality work
- Flexibility to work in swing – Morning / Evening shifts.
- Able to finish the tasks without any handholding/supervision
- Accountable for meeting productivity and quota targets on time
- Software Knowledge:
- Maya, Matchmover, Nuke, Syntheyes, and 3d Equalizer.
