Job Opening: Animation Technical Director
Location: Remote
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Direct and supervise the technical animation pipeline and all procedures, tools, and runtime components for a streamlined and efficient animation production pipeline.
- Lead the implementation of motion capture in the animation pipeline.
- Collaborate closely with animation, design, engineering, and game design teams for the integration of all animations, cinematic or scripted moments of the game.
- Work with programmers to evaluate, and develop new or improved animation technologies for the game engine.
- Be the owner of all of the content sides when a technical problem arises.
- Help drive both internal and external teams to implement best practices, standardizations, and workflow efficiencies.
- Build documentation, workflows, and roadmaps for current and future development.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 7+ years working in animation runtime areas.
- Expert knowledge of AAA animation pipelines.
- Has shipped multiple titles as a Lead / Senior Technical Animator.
- Has experience with designing and driving the implementation of runtime elements such as blend trees, state machines, advanced blueprints, IK, and physic systems.
- Previous leadership and management experience.
- Strong understanding of methods of optimizing game art assets for game engines.
- Understanding of Python/C#/C++ or similar object-oriented languages.
- Solid understanding of game animation development. (Process, industry standard).
- Experience with motion matching is a plus.
