Job Opening: 3D Lighting Artist

Intlum is on the lookout for a creative and detail-oriented 3D Lighting Artist to join our production pipeline. This role is designed for an artist with a sophisticated understanding of shadows, color theory, and cinematic scene composition across animation, VFX, and gaming projects. You will be responsible for creating realistic and stylized lighting setups that define the mood and atmosphere of characters and environments alike. If you are a problem-solver who can optimize render layers and collaborate seamlessly with look development and compositing teams, we want to see your portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Create high-quality, atmospheric lighting setups for complex 3D animation scenes.
- Establish and maintain the visual consistency, mood, and cinematic tone of assigned shots.
- Collaborate closely with modeling, texturing, rendering, and compositing departments.
- Optimize lighting rigs and render settings to ensure maximum production efficiency and speed.
- Execute look development tasks and manage basic production rendering workflows.
- Troubleshoot technical lighting and rendering artifacts under tight project deadlines.
Requirements & Technical Skills
- Experience: 3–5 years of professional lighting experience within the Animation, VFX, or Gaming industries.
- Core Software: High proficiency in Autodesk Maya and Blender.
- Render Engines: Strong understanding of rendering workflows, layers, and engine parameters (experience with Arnold, Cycles, or V-Ray is a major advantage).
- Artistic Foundations: Deep knowledge of lighting principles, color theory, camera angles, and cinematic composition.
- Pipeline Integration: Familiarity with downstream compositing workflows and a proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
