Job Opening: Comp Supervisor
Location: Freelance/London, England
Type: Contract
Responsibilities:
- Interpreting the creative vision of the VFX Supervisor and providing a clear, consistent, creative brief to the team.
- Delivering the highest quality work to the VFX Supervisor and presenting opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Presenting work to clients in an engaging and charismatic way.
- Providing concise and constructive feedback and ensuring the artists are directed to reach milestones and show targets.
- Supporting the use of consistent department processes as well as designing more effective workflows and training.
- Communicating with all departments to manage dependencies and improve efficiency.
- Breaking down the work for HoDs to ensure they can provide the most appropriate comp team.
- Resolving conflicts of workflow approach between the teams/shows.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Advanced understanding of Nuke compositing software.
- Look-development of both 2D and CG-style shots.
- Ability to template Nuke scripts for efficient multi-shot workflows.
- Ability to create efficient Nuke scripts and troubleshoot bugs and efficiency issues.
- Advanced compositing of 3D lighting and tech passes.
- Clear communication of compositing needs to the 3D department.
- Understanding of Python scripting and ability to communicate clearly with the pipeline department.
- Ability to sell creative solutions and ideas to the VFX Supervisors.
- Ability to reduce complex problems to their most simple solutions.
- Thorough understanding of the complete VFX pipeline.
- Highly organized proven team leader with strong motivational skills.
- Proactive and an excellent communicator.
- 8+ years of professional VFX experience in Film or TV.
- Compositing Supervisor or Sequence Lead experience.
- Proven experience in Nuke compositing software.
- The ideal candidate will have experience in:
- Nuke Python API.
- 3D and emerging VFX technologies.
- Colour management.
- Photography and filmmaking.
