Job Opening: Outsource Lead (Animation)

Location: Nottingham, England, UK

Type: Full-Time

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Production on project scheduling, budgeting, and tracking, ensuring stakeholders are kept updated as required.
  • Immerse yourself in the game’s creative vision and work with leadership to set asset specifications.
  • Coordinate and manage relationships with external vendors, ensuring timely delivery and maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Source, vet, and set up vendors for success.
  • Proactively manage the outsourcing process, including onboarding, setting standards, and maintaining communication with external studios and animators.
  • Regularly evaluate and improve the performance and quality of external partners to ensure they meet project standards.
  • Take overall responsibility for the creation of briefs, feedback, and integration of animation assets into the game.
  • Clearly communicate feedback to outsource partners, balancing quality with timely delivery.
  • Manage and raise risks and issues where appropriate, collaborating with Production or other relevant teams.
  • Develop and maintain efficient pipelines to streamline the outsourcing process.
  • Ensure that all animation assets created by external vendors comply with legal standards, avoiding copyright or trademark infringements.
  • Own the feedback process between Dambuster Studios and external vendors, ensuring technical and aesthetic quality levels are upheld throughout.
  • Provide bug support, triage, and resolution for animation assets created by external vendors.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of game animation asset creation using software such as Maya, Motion Builder, Photoshop, Jira, Miro, Unreal Engine, etc.
  • Some knowledge of the Motion Capture pipeline (training can be provided).
  • Highly proficient in clear, unambiguous communication of ideas.
  • Ability to create visuals to illustrate ideas using references, screenshots, video clips, and illustrations as appropriate.
  • Capable of creating clear and well-organized documentation that meets the needs of its target audience.
  • Solid understanding of game and cinematic animation production and how they integrate with the overall game product.
  • Proven experience in performance management of outsourced vendors.
  • Experience in outsourcing and managing external animation teams (essential).
  • A strong understanding of animation principals within an AAA game engine
  • Experience with AAA development
  • Strong portfolio showcasing high-quality animation assets that you have managed
