Responsibilities:
- Edit translated materials to ensure quality, stylistic consistency, and suitability for a North American audience.
- Create and maintain clear and detailed localization style guides and glossaries for all games.
- Provide linguistic feedback and recommendations to external partners and in-house staff to achieve the company’s high-quality standards.
- Work closely with the localization department and relevant internal teams to finalize the game content.
- Localization QA before and after the game goes ‘live’.
- Assist in corporate communications, ensuring the company consistently projects a professional, quality-driven, service-oriented, and socially responsible image.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Familiar with the vernacular of the United States, and you have experience with the US gaming market, with a strong understanding of US culture, history, and current affairs.
- Able to write clear, concise, and engaging English with immaculate grammar.
- Meticulous, with a keen eye for detail and an inquiring mind; you understand the differences between ‘U-Boat’ and ‘Submarine’, ‘Requirement’ and ‘Prerequisite’, ‘Humour’ and ‘Humors’.
- Work well under the creative direction set by the game design lead, and ensure that the final localized text is consistent in tone with the rest of the game.
- Able to explain why “Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo.” is a grammatically correct sentence in English.
- 1 year of experience in translation, editing, or proofreading.
- You play PC, console, or mobile games, or have experience working in the video games industry.
- You are familiar with different forms of writing, and have knowledge of format-appropriate presentation for UI text, game system messages, dialog, tooltips, biographies, exposition, narrative, etc.
- You have knowledge of fantasy, mythology, science fiction, comics, and graphic novels.
