Job Opening: Unreal Lighting Artist

Location: Remote

Type: Full-Time

Responsibilities:

  • Create and design lighting for complex scenes in Unreal Engine, owning both the technical and creative problem spaces
  • Work closely with directors and supervisors to develop cinematic lighting solutions, which capture the vision laid out by the client
  • Translate 2D concepts into final lighting solutions and renders
  • Look development of assets, environments, and FX elements
  • Identify problematic shots and offer creative or technical solutions
  • Oversee and help optimize shots for rendering
  • Communicate with team members in all departments

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience with Unreal Engine lighting techniques and solutions
  • Proven track record with photoreal and full CG lighting for film, television, and/or games
  • Knowledge of a variety of lighting techniques and tools in Unreal (Lumen, Raytracing, Megalights, Nanite, Materials)
  • Detail-oriented both in work processes and ability to QC work
  • Understanding of optimization and performance profiling
  • Willingness to take direction and adapt to change in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to problem solve and propose workarounds for creative and technical challenges
  • Time management skills; working to production schedules and communicating blockers to department leads and production.

Good to Have:

  • Experience with Maya, Houdini, Blender, Nuke, or equivalent DCC
  • Knowledge of blueprints and automating workflows in Unreal
  • Experience in compositing and paint
  • Knowledge of an asset manager such as Shotgrid
