Job Opening: Gameplay Designer – 3Cs

Location: Remote

Type: Full-Time

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with design and art teams to establish player feel in the moment-to-moment gameplay.
  • Iterate and tune game systems to develop gameplay encounters and deliver narrative content.
  • Quickly prototype to prove or disprove new content design ideas and concepts.
  • Work with production and the playtest process to identify and respond to key feedback.
  • Establish and maintain design documentation as needed for the project.
  • Shepherd and guide a cohesive vision for player game feel that is at once true to the Subnautica franchise and also helps bring the game to modern genre standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience shipping at least 2 game titles in a design-focused role.
  • Experience implementing gameplay in the Unreal 5 engine, with an emphasis on 3Cs.
  • Experienced with best practices around 3Cs development in the survival game genre, with knowledge of the Subnautica
  • Experience transitioning game concepts from prototyping to pre-production and production phases.
  • Self-managing and self-motivated; capable of taking high-level ideas and executing on them with limited guidance.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication.
  • Experience developing multiplayer gameplay or systems on one or more projects.
  • Experience with open development or Early Access models engaging with large and active communities.
  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine’s animation and blueprint systems.
  • Experience working in other design roles that show versatility and being T-shaped, such as working on systems, level, or technical design outside of 3Cs.
  • Willingness to adjust work hours to overlap with US West Coast time zone (at least 4 hours a day) if located outside the US.
