Job Opening: VFX Supervisor

Location: Montpellier, France

Type: Full-Time

Responsibilities:

  • Supervision and Artistic Direction:
    • Oversee the creation of complex visual effects, including fluid simulations, particles, smoke, fire, destruction, etc.
    • Ensure visual consistency of effects in line with the artistic vision of the project.
    • Provide constructive feedback to VFX artists to enhance the quality of visual effects.
  • Project Management:
    • Work closely with producers to establish production schedules, estimate resource needs, and monitor progress.
    • Identify potential risks related to VFX and propose proactive solutions.
    • Ensure deadlines are met while maintaining a high level of quality.
  • Interdepartmental Coordination:
    • Collaborate with other departments (modeling, animation, lighting, compositing, etc.) to ensure smooth integration of visual effects into the final sequences.
    • Participate in production meetings to discuss technical needs and challenges related to VFX.
  • Technical Development:
    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of tools, techniques, and workflows related to VFX.
    • Provide training and mentorship to VFX team members on best practices and new technologies.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a VFX Supervisor or equivalent role in a 3D animation production environment.
  • Proven experience in creating and supervising visual effects for animation projects or films.
  • Proficiency in VFX software such as Houdini, Nuke, Maya, After Effects, or other relevant tools.
  • Strong understanding of physical simulation processes (fluids, particles, destruction) and their integration into a 3D pipeline.
  • In-depth knowledge of rendering, lighting, and compositing techniques.
  • Strong aesthetic sense and visual storytelling ability.
  • Ability to interpret and execute the director’s creative vision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and lead a team in a collaborative environment.
  • Degree in animation, visual effects, 3D graphics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proactive and self-driven.
  • Attention to detail and precision.
  • Ability to work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
