Job Opening: Lead Character Artist
Location: Prague/Brno, Czech Republic
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Lead the production of character art; work with internal and external teams
- Collaborate with other leads to establish the character art’s visual style and direction
- Create highly realistic character art in line with the project’s needs
- Provide constructive feedback and mentor the character art team to ensure their professional growth
- Create a production plan with the Lead Artist and other leads; ensure plan is delivered on time and meets set standards
- Share the project’s vision with the rest of the team and keep them motivated
- Report to the Creative Director and Lead Artist
- Define tasks and priorities; assign them to artists and track their progress
- Identify possible risks and issues; actively work to solve them
- Define character art pipelines and workflows; keep them up-to-date with technological trends and developments
- Write documentation
- Participate in the recruitment and building of the character art team
- Stay up-to-date with industry-leading technologies and trends
Qualifications & Skills:
- Proven experience as a Character Artist
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Strong time management; organizational and planning skills
- Understanding of game development cycle and processes
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Ability to cooperate with other departments
- Sharp eye for quality; precision, consistency, and attention to detail
- Excellent problem-solving skills; goal-oriented, proactive, and self-motivated approach
- Expert knowledge of the software needed for the full character art pipeline
- Fluent in modern character art workflows
- Deep understanding of human anatomy, archetypes, and sense of proportions, as well as form, color, and light
- Knowledge of Jira or similar project management tools
- Very good knowledge of current developments and trends in the game dev industry
