Job Opening: Narrative Designer
Location: Warszawa/ Wrocław, Poland
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- working with the Narrative team and other disciplines to implement, support and maintain interactive storytelling using Techland’s proprietary game engine,
- helping conceptualise and develop new/improved narrative tools and systems,
- implementing narrative systems, dialogue, scenes and events,
- assisting with the creation of story, dialogue and environmental storytelling,
- working to help maintain tools and systems that seamlessly integrate narrative into the project,
- debugging our narrative systems and content,
- creating and maintaining documentation relating to narrative tools and systems,
- assisting the team in developing workflows, and pipelines across the Narrative, Quest, Animation and technical teams,
- providing insightful and constructive feedback to writers and designers.
Qualifications & Skills:
- relevant professional experience as a Narrative Designer, Games Writer, Level Designer and/or Gameplay Designer, with a focus on designing and implementing narrative content and/or systems,
- a clear, intuitive understanding of the requirements for interactive storytelling, non-linear variable and branching narrative, systemic narrative practices, and game production processes,
- experience working within engines such as Unreal, Unity or other popular game engines that support visual scripting.
- ability to clearly express the ways that narrative and games design intersect and how story can be expressed through audio, visual and gameplay means,
- experience in creating design documentation,
- clear knowledge of triggers, conditions, variables, bark sets, and other narrative design tools,
- ability to work across departments to help communicate and deliver the narrative,
- solid written and verbal communication skills. Must be proficient in English (B2+).

- experience of working with proprietary engines,
- prior experience in creating first- or third-person action games,
- experience working with engines such as Unreal, Unity or other popular game engines that support visual scripting,
- experience with localization, text and/or dialogue pipelines,
- knowledge and experience with dialogue editing and management software such as Inkle, Twine, or Oasis,
- An understanding of the demands and requirements of branching dialogue, and/or co-op open world storytelling.
