Job Opening: Animator for Sea of Thieves

Location: Liverpool, England, UK

Type: Full-Time

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the animation team to create high quality animation content within the requirements of the project
  • Be mindful of how animation and gameplay combine to make interesting and visceral gameplay systems (fluidity, readability, weight and timing, etc)
  • Is capable of being autonomous and engaging with peers to create fun playable gameplay systems.
  • Follow up on and validate animations produced in the engine.
  • Actively participate in animation system design and problem resolution / Takes ownership of the systems assigned to them and sees through to completion
  • Working closely with design and programmers to create an efficient development pipeline and ensure the quality of their animation upon integration.
  • Play the game to validate movement control and identify improvements.
  • Clean and edit motion capture data to support high quality game and cinematic assets.
  • Assist in motion capture shoots.
  • Implement assets in the game engine.
  • Create bespoke animation to work within gameplay requirements and problem solve animation issues.
  • Deliver content on schedule and within technical limitations

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Good proficiency and understanding of animation fundamentals
  • Good communication and teamwork skills and a friendly attitude
  • Highly motivated to push the quality bar of animation with an open mind
  • Skilled in (one or more of) Maya, 3DS Max or Motionbuilder
  • Ability to accept feedback, interpret direction and constructive criticism
  • Be comfortable working within a predefined animation style
  • Familiarity with gameplay animation pipelines
  • Self-motivation and attitude

Desired Experience

  • Knowledge of Unreal Engine or Unity
  • Creative and passionate approach to problem solving
  • Understanding of the different requirements of gameplay and cinematics.
  • Experience in developing character systems for video games
  • Strong sense of how gameplay and animation relate to one another
  • Experience with motion capture
  • Excellent Problem solver
