Job Opening: Senior Technical Designer
Location: Farnborough, England, UK
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Build Blueprints and editor tools for our reusable Unreal Engine plugins, which provide game features to multiple studios.
- Innovate in the field of first-person interaction and embodiment – collaborate with the game teams and Core Development engineers to build novel solutions to unsolved problems.
- Act as a power-user of the core technology, ensuring workflows and documentation are intuitive and there’s minimal friction in adopting and customizing it.
- Evangelize the tech with compelling samples, inspiring demos and rapid prototyping support.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 3+ years of professional experience as a Technical Designer, having contributed to at one shipped title on a console, PC, or mobile platform.
- Experience building interactive experiences in Unreal Engine 4/5, authoring Blueprints with scalability and performance in mind.
- Able to apply 3D mathematics to gameplay scripting – manipulating vectors, quaternions, matrices etc.
- Able to gather user requirements, using them to prioritize shared features and manage scope.
- Good English communication skills. Able to work effectively with peers and stakeholders from all disciplines.
Desired experience:
- An understanding of animation blueprints, control rig and sequence composition in Unreal Engine.
- Experience developing virtual/mixed reality applications. Particularly interactions, locomotion or avatar representation.
- Rapid prototyping experience – able to quickly realize and iterate concepts in software.
- Familiarity with the state-of-the-art in virtual reality interaction and player representation. Regularly uses VR and keeps up with hardware and software innovation.
