Job Opening: Layout Artist
Location: Vancouver, Canada
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the creators, designers, and creative leads through the production process to maintain the vision and style of the series
- Utilize key background designs as reference to create and paint new layouts according to the completed storyboard sequences
- Work on art design and color styling for layouts as needed
- Follow directions and feedback, and incorporate notes from the Director and Supervisor
- Communicate with other departments (Setups, animation, etc.) to assess needs and contributes to a high-quality show
- Manage time effectively to complete designs and revisions on time, and keep Production informed of progress and/or concerns
- Create materials and other artwork as needed for the studio
Qualifications & Skills:
- 3+ years’ experience as a Layout Artist with a full portfolio of sample work in the field of 2D Animation/ episodic television.
- Degree or diploma in fine arts or animation or equivalent
- Expertise in Photoshop. Proficiency in Animate is a plus.
- Strong painting skills, and an understanding of perspective and composition
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively under a strict deadline
- Ability to work with people from different disciplines and cultures with varying degrees of knowledge
- Strong work ethic and team player
- Must be a team-player and a self-starter who thrives in small, team-oriented environment
