Job Opening: Modeling Supervisor

Location: Mount Dora, Florida

Type: Full-Time

Responsibilities:

  • Sculpt visually appealing character models capable of conveying a wide range of emotions.
  • Construct efficient models with top-notch deformation capabilities for use in Maya and/or Unreal Engine.
  • Employ UDIM workflows to meticulously unwrap base models in preparation for texture painting.
  • Prepare base meshes for hair and cloth simulations, as well as other CFX requirements.
  • Adapt the art style to match the specifications of Feature Animation or VFX projects.
  • Create high-quality textures using Substance Painter and Photoshop.
  • Export textures from Substance Painter for various rendering purposes.
  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline the art creation process.
  • Lead a team, working with individual artists to develop a plan and schedule for assigned tasks.
  • Demonstrate both independent work skills and leadership within the larger team structure.
  • Engage with clients in a professional manner, consistently upholding Studio priorities and culture.
  • Provide feedback and share knowledge with less-experienced Modeling Artists.
  • Collaborate with Creative Directors, Animators, Riggers, and Production Managers to ensure tasks are completed according to approved production plans.
  • Maintain effective communication regarding the progress of your work with peers, supervisors, and clients.
  • Accept and incorporate creative and technical critiques, promptly making necessary revisions.
  • Offer assessments on how to enhance artists’ performance.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of modeling techniques, topology, and deformation requirements for Feature Animation and VFX.
  • Proficient in high-poly sculpting using ZBrush.
  • Ability to efficiently UV unwrap character models for Feature Animation, including experience with UDIMs, and/or Real-Time applications.
  • Extensive experience in texture painting using Substance Painter and Photoshop.
  • Familiarity with various export processes from Substance Painter for diverse rendering engines.
  • Capability to create and texture 3D models based on creative direction and references.
  • Adaptability to different art styles.
  • Strong understanding of appeal, design, anatomy, color, shape, scale, silhouette, and proportion.
  • Commitment to personal and professional development, as well as sharing best practices.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team structure.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, problem-solving, and cross-departmental communication skills.
