Job Opening: Lighting Artist
Location: Chatham, UK / Remote
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Understand composition and the ability to enhance environments and locations through lighting.
- Experience with Physically Based Rendering tools.
- General understanding of Shaders and materials.
- 1-2 years of lighting experience on PC or console hardware (Xbox One, Xbox Series S & X, PS4, PS5, ).
- Work with the designers and technical artists to create balanced and atmospheric lighting for in-game environments and cinematics.
- Work with Technical Artists and Engineers to create lighting-specific tools and features.
- Make any changes requested in an iterative intense pipeline.
- Author pre-baked and real-time lighting via proprietary software.
- Create lighting-related visual effects including fire, heat glows, and post effects.
- Maintain and ensure runtime performance and optimize when required.
- Undertake performance profiling and optimization of the UE4 and UE5 Engines across multiple platforms.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Be able to rise to the challenges and problem-solve when required.
- Passion to raise the bar in video game lighting.
- Working knowledge of 2D packages such as Photoshop/Substance/Quixel.
- Knowledge of 3D packages such as 3DS Max or Maya.
- Knowledge of the Unreal Engine or similar
- Knowledge of a variety of baked and real-time lighting methods
