Job Opening: Unreal Technical Artist

Location: Montreal / Quebec, Canada

Type: Full-Time

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a resource person for team members to determine the technical impact of the artistic vision;
  • Simplify production by finding ways to automate tasks and improve processes;
  • Develop a set of best practices, solutions and tools to resolve problems;
  • Promote the reuse of resources, know-how and tools on several projects;
  • Ensure that the team has the technical expertise to carry out the work required in the project;
  • Stay up to date and seek to constantly push the boundaries of technology;
  • Establish solid communication between creative and technical teams;
  • Find innovative solutions and demonstrate expertise in the field of technical optimization in order to produce the best possible visual results within the limits of technological equipment;
  • Understand rendering steps and methods to assess performance impact.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • A degree or relevant professional experience in the video game industry as a technical artist or in a similar or related position;
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience with Unreal;
  • Technical knowledge in real-time 3D graphics as well as digital content creation techniques;
  • Knowledge of pre-calculated and real-time lighting;
  • Experience in creating and deploying production and automation processes;
  • Experience with commercial 3D tools (Maya, Houdini, Substance);
  • Experience in creating Blueprints and a good understanding of scripting and programming (Python, C++, Mel, HLSL an asset);
  • Experience in the video game or animation industry an asset;
  • Knowledge/experience in Mocap, an asset.
