Job Opening: Environment Artist
Location: Remote
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with Art Director, Concept Art, and Design to create environments from initial rough layout to completed and polished environments.
- Work closely with the Art Director and Leads to drive and evangelize our artistic vision.
- Generate layout, advanced materials, place props and foliage, light scenes, and make performance optimizations.
- Author stylized game assets that fulfill the art style and technical requirements defined by project leads.
- Capable of effective collaboration with other departments such as Design, Engineering and Tech Art to make sure artwork fits gameplay and performance specifications.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Practical experience with Unreal Engine 4/5.
- Has strong fundamental environment art skills (modeling, texturing, layout, level flow, set decoration, environment storytelling, and lighting).
- Has a solid understanding of traditional fine art skills and concepts (drawing, painting, composition, perspective, lighting, color theory, 2D & 3D design).
- Is proficient in the use of 3ds Max (or comparable 3D modeling package), Photoshop, ZBrush, Texture creation (Substance Painter/Designer), and Unreal Material editing.
- Has a minimum of 5 years experience working as an Environment Artist for games.
- Has familiarity with video game development including, but not limited to, workflow tools, stylized PBR material setup, UV layout, in-game animation, environmental vfx, and engine parameters/optimizations desirable.
- Has contributed to multiple shipped video game titles.
- Likes to participate in the research and development of a product’s visual style.
- Is capable of identifying, investigating, and resolving a range of artistic development issues often encountered during the level-building process.
- Great oral and written communication skills.
- Self-managing with capability to work remotely.
- Plays and enjoys a variety of games and media.
