Job Opening: Unreal Engine CG Generalist

Location: Burbank, California, US

Type: Part-Time

Responsibilities:

  • In-engine-focused Tech Art such as particles, real-time effects, custom shader creation and lighting. Unreal and Unity preferably.
  • Implementation of art assets into the using version control software such as Perforce.
  • Work with the team members and leads of different software development disciplines and branches to assist and support in their development cycle.
  • Will be directed per project to learn and take on new software and engine challenges to bridge knowledge gaps between the other art disciplines and engineering.
  • Attend and report in scheduled scrums and sprint planning sessions, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Asset Development and support (80-100%) The CG Generalist’s primary responsibility is to develop, support, and implement work within the Interactive Department. The CG Generalist will work closely with the team to create work in a variety of different disciplines centered around Environment art assets, Rigging, Visual Effects, Lighting, and In Engine Setup.
  • Advancement of knowledge (10-20%) The CG Generalist will work with the Art Director to determine skills and knowledge valuable to the team that the CG Generalist will learn to apply to the team’s projects. This includes but is not limited to exploratory asset creation, working with department specialists, and documenting the findings.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in visual and creative 3d asset creation for videogames or other interactive media
  • Strong Proficiency with 3ds Max/Maya or Houdini
  • Proficiency in Real-time Lighting setup and VFX creation
  • Proficiency with rigging in the creation of interactive assets
  • Proficiency in texture creation with Photoshop, Substance Painter/Designer, or equivalent.
  • Strong Adaptability and Collaboration skills
  • A portfolio or demo reel demonstrating all the fundamentals Tech Art for real-time engines (rigging, particles, shaders, lighting, vfx)
  • Quick learning and a desire to understand new tools on the regular
  • Comfortable with working self-directed in exploratory work
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a willingness to give and receive constructive critique and feedback from team members
