Job Opening: Lead World Artist
Location: Vancouver, Canada
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Shape and define the priorities for the Environment team alongside the Art Director
- Develop pipelines and steer decision-making for our environment art process in partnership with the Environment and Tech Art teams, improving workflow efficiencies and creating beautiful content scalable
- With a player-first focus, alongside our Principal Environment Artist, drive the environment art style in-engine (UE5) to create compelling, magical worlds! You’ll still be creating beautiful art!
- Foster a coaching culture for the Environment team by guiding them through creative and technical blockers, helping them to achieve their career goals and growth
- Partner with Production on staffing plans and project roadmaps. This will include inclusive hiring and building a team that can help you execute on the game and team’s vision alongside our Recruitment team
- Scope, prioritize & delegate features and game content throughout the project’s life cycle with the environment team via our agile process, ensuring they remain empowered to execute with confidence and clarity on the game vision
- Meet regularly with external partners to collaborate and present visual designs and overall product goals
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience managing other game artists, overseeing the growth and development of your team to the next steps in their careers
- Experience as a Lead on at least 1 shipped title, from pre-production through to launch
- A portfolio showcasing a diverse range of 3D environments
- Proficiency in video game development tools, pipelines, and workflows, plus an interest in jumping into Unreal when needed
- Familiarity with texture creation software including Substance Designer and Painter
- A collaborative approach to communication: you are experienced in delivering clear, concise messages that are easily understood by all disciplines, as well as any external partners
