Job Opening: Graduate Environment Artist
Location: Wakefield, England, UK
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with other members of the art team to create high-quality artwork for ongoing projects
- Track and update the progress of day-to-day tasks using designated organisational and tracking tools
- Ensure the technical and artistic quality of the project by collaborating with Senior Artists and to make changes when necessary
- Assist in planning out environments, with consideration of narrative and visual storytelling, while documenting intentions
- Create environments in collaboration with other members of the Environment & the Design team
- Create functional assets which can be shared across the project in respect of technical and artistic constraints
- Reference game design documents to develop an understanding of the environments, objectives, atmospheres, story and style of the project
Qualifications & Skills:
- Knowledge of 3D software such as 3D Studio Max or Maya
- Knowledge of 3D sculpting package Zbrush and familiarity with Substance Painter
- Knowledge of PBR material pipelines
- Knowledge of modelling processes (hi-res sculpting, baking textures)
- Knowledge of the video game development process
- An ability to translate concept and reference artwork into 3D assets
- Understanding of composition and visual storytelling
- Understanding of modular processes to build complex environments in an efficient & functional manner
