Job Opening: Special Effects Artist
Location: Quebec, Canada
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Submit special effects ideas and creative solutions to managers and ensure their execution ;
- Provide solutions to improve game performance;
- Collaborate with the technical artist to ensure that the necessary technology and features are in place to achieve visual quality standards;
- Work closely with the design, programming and animation teams to ensure the integration and consistency of the special effects produced;
- Adapting his work to different artistic styles within the technical limits of Unity and Unreal game engines;
- Share artistic knowledge with artists and support them when needed;
- Assist in scheduling special effects tasks.
Qualifications & Skills:
- College or university education in arts, multimedia, 3D or equivalent;
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in the video game industry;
- Advanced knowledge in creating particle and shader effects on Unity and/or Unreal game engines;
- Advanced knowledge in creating textures;
- Knowledge of video game constraints and performance management (memory, GPU, CPU);
- Knowledge of Substance Designer and Houdini (an asset);
- Knowledge of modeling software like Blender (an asset);
- Fluency in French and English (written and oral);
- ESSENTIAL: Portfolio and/or demo.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team;
- Good time management and compliance with production deadlines;
- Have a good artistic culture (games, multimedia, cinema, etc.);
- Demonstrate autonomy, resourcefulness, organization and rigor.
