Job Opening: Effects Intern

Location: Glendale, United States

Type: Internship

Responsibilities:

  • The intern will be assigned to a feature film and gain insight into production responsibilities, workflows, and processes.
  • Be responsible for various activities under the direction of the FX Team.
  • Attend and contribute to FX team meetings.
  • Take on new challenges to gain more detailed knowledge of the animation industry, feature animation pipeline, and workflows.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Working knowledge of animation principles.
  • Understand the basics of designing and creating images, elements, and effects (such as fire, smoke, water, destruction, magic, etc.) for CG.
  • Understanding of software like Houdini, Nuke, or similar 3D packages for use in particle systems, fluid simulation, rigid bodies, procedural geometry, and compositing.
  • Ability to self-critique creative work, address notes, and expand upon the art direction given.
  • Candidates should be well-organized, highly self-motivated individuals who function well in fast-paced production environments.
  • Candidates should be comfortable multitasking, working independently on assignments, discern priorities, and hit deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, the ability to interact professionally with others, and being respectful and punctual in meetings
  • Pursuing an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at a College/University (or equivalent), or be a recent graduate (within six months of graduation date)
  • If selected for an in-person internship, must be willing to work in Glendale, California.
  • If selected for a virtual internship, must be working from a location within the United States during all hours worked.
  • If selected for a virtual internship, must have own equipment (computer, headphones, etc.) and stable internet connection
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
  • Must submit an attestation disclosing your COVID-19 vaccination status and, if partially or fully vaccinated, submitting your vaccination record no later than 7 days following commencement of employment.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at the commencement of employment or adhere to enhanced protocols if Company determines your job position requires accessing an NBCUniversal worksite.
  • Must be willing to adhere to all Company COVID-19 workplace safety policies and protocols.
  • Education in animation/graphics/computer science/VFX (or equivalent) program; traditional artistic training a plus.
  • Adobe Animate knowledge.
