Job Opening: Lighting Artist

Location: Montreal, Canada

Type: Full-Time

Responsibilities:

  • Work with VFX/CG supervisors to ensure lighting assets are integrated into the 3D and VFX pipeline
  • Collaborate with the compositing department by providing suggestions and feedback to improve the visual quality of shots
  • Analyze, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to lighting
  • Work effectively within a team, or independently, to achieve assigned plans
  • Continue to learn about new tools, software, data, and other related technologies
  • Maintain and develop skills to keep up with the evolution of software and processes
  • Understand and follow pipeline procedures and adhere to Outpost’s workflow regarding all aspects of 2D/3D
  • Be present and speak in all relevant dailies sessions, and exemplify Outpost’s culture in terms of professionalism and quality/creativity

Qualifications & Skills:

  • You must have a good knowledge of lighting principles
  • Excellent knowledge of Maya and Arnold
  • Understanding of shading networks. Experience performing Look Development tasks
  • Good understanding of the broad VFX pipeline, including color space, workflow, and industry-standard script layouts
  • A keen eye for detail, composition, color, and lighting
  • Ability to understand and apply shooting notes
  • Shotgun experience
  • Houdini, Solaris
  • Wider generalist skills (to be indicated on the application)
