Job Opening: Lighting Supervisor

Location: Mount Dora, Florida

Type: in-house and remote

Responsibilities:

  • Highly skilled with a variety of lighting styles-especially stylized, Art Directed theatrical lighting
  • A good eye for cinematic lighting and its effect on storytelling, mood and atmosphere
  • Ability to drive the lookdev of locations and environments working closely with the art team.
  • Good eye for character lighting for clear staging, priority read and shot continuity.
  • Overall artistic eye with a deep understanding of traditional principles such as atmospheric perspective, color harmony, and value balance.
  • Comfortable with leading a lighting team and capable of clearly communicating the Art Direction whilst advising on best practice for a clean and efficient workflow.
  • Adept at managing a sizeable team
  • Experience working in a feature animation pipeline with the ability to troubleshoot problems based on past experience
  • Able to stay within the allotted bid estimates (although remember these are estimates) for most tasks and communicate roadblocks appropriately
  • Share his/her experience and help the less experienced members of the team
  • Maintain a continued organized pipeline internally for Production and workflow needs
  • Define, document, communicate and establish best practices and techniques for the lighting pipeline

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Knowledge of the following 3d packages— Maya, Unreal
  • Enthusiasm and desire to work in the industry
  • Previous experience working in a Feature Animation/Cinematic Real-Time Pipeline with the ability to troubleshoot problems based on past experience
  • In-depth knowledge of Maya/Unreal Lighting
  • The ideal candidate will have an understanding of Unreal Engine’s Skylight and Atmosphere Systems.
  • Experience with lighting for Real-Time (Unreal Engine).
  • Good organization skills for a clean and collaborative workflow.
  • Experience lighting for offline rendering. Familiarity with offline render engines such as Redshift.
  • Can input the necessary information to guide Lighting/Rendering pipeline as needed with a thorough understanding of the requirements of compositing and ability to break down required to render passes.
  • Able to take and apply feedback well from the Director, Creative Director, and Art Directors
  • Able to reach out and communicate issues or questions on workflow and production with Teammates and Supervisors
  • Knowledge of Unreal Sequencer a plus
