Job Opening: 3D Character Artist

Responsibilities:

  • Create 3D assets ranging from humanoid to creatures
  • Work with Production and Subject Matter Experts to improve upon efficiency of process and pipeline.
  • Understand game requirements and champ parameters to create low poly assets that are optimized for deformation and animation
  • Interpret concept designs while taking into account technical and design constraints such as poly count, texture memory limits, and topology
  • Use your strong sense of human/creature anatomy to push character quality to its fullest potential and support art style guide creation.
  • Use your sense of color and texture to finalize in-game assets
  • Strong understanding of League of Legends stylized shape language and how to apply that to sculpts, models, and textures.
  • Utilize your knowledge of Substance Painter and Color to generate current-gen textures
  • Guide artists to hit product quality standards, uphold style guide principles and highlight improvement areas.
  • Communicate with various other disciplines to ensure all assets are performant

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 4+ years’ experience in the video games industry as a character artist working in multiple pipelines and game engines.
  • Knowledge of human anatomy, form, and color theory
  • Experience working with modeling, sculpting, and texturing programs such as Maya/Max, Substance Painter, ZBrush, Photoshop, and 3DCoat
  • Experience in creating high-quality, stylized 3D character art
  • Demonstrated ability to create hand-painted stylized characters through past professional or personal work samples
  • Experience working and communicating with multiple disciplines to find creative solutions and hit production goals
  • Development experience creating materials and PBR assets within modern game engines (Unreal, Unity, etc)
  • Familiarity with the League of Legends IP and skins universes
  • Experience giving direction and delivering clear, constructive feedback to vendors
