Job Opening: 3D Animator
Location: Burbank, California/Philippines
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with the Art Director and other artists to finalize animations for each project.
- Provides artwork for review at appropriate stages and applies feedback accordingly, with quick turnaround.
- Animate the provided character rig (and props), relying more on your instincts as a keyframe animator than on automation.
- Communicate with Producers and the Art team to ensure deadlines are met.
- See through the implementation of said animations with the Tech Art team, making sure to produce technically sound clips and make revisions when needed.
- Project, manage, and maintain well-organized working files to facilitate file sharing and collaborative work.
- Manage workload and milestone requirements by following and/or determining task priorities, time estimates, and scope while proactively raising issues to the team as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 3+ years practical animation experience working in interactive media/video game setting (or a strong portfolio equivalent)
- Expert knowledge of Maya’s animation toolset
- Advanced and applied understanding of animation principles and techniques (timing, staging, anticipation, squash and stretch, etc.), with a strong grasp of these principles in the video game context.
- Possess a working knowledge of good topology for 3D models, applying changes where needed to expedite animation tasks
- Strong problem-solving methodology
- High work ethics and open-minded attitude with excellent communication skills in English, including the ability to give, receive, and solicit constructive written, verbal, and other feedback.
- Unrelenting self-motivation and initiative to raise the bar of animation quality in our games.
- Experienced animator who has an overlapping knowledge of Unity engine’s animation tools
- Good knowledge of skinning and rigging tools in Maya is a huge plus
- Good command of traditional/hand-drawn animation is a plus, but not required
- A good understanding of the pipeline for game development
- Experience with ZBrush modeling toolkit
- Loves video games and making them!
